The start of shooting

Initial shooting of the winter scenes were done at the old settlers farm Løland, in Audnedal municipality. There was a lot of snow which made for good conditions during shooting. The area surrounding Løland was a perfect place to shoot exteriors from a small farm in the inner parts of Agder from the 19th century.
The script for the film is based on true stories of child wandering in Agder, Norway from approx. 1800-1910. The film has close to 100 specified roles, and hundreds of extras and animals. The story takes place in the south of Norway, including the towns of Agder, Arendal, Kristiansand, and ultimately in the city of New York. Penelope Film, located in Kristiansand, is best known for producing the Kamilla and the Thief movies, with Morten Harket and Dennis Storhøi among the cast. Today the film is the best selling DVD in the Norwegian Classics series.
The North American release of the movie "Yohan - The Child Wanderer" is slated for release during the summer of 2010. The film has been shot simultaneously in both Norwegian and English and will be distributed worldwide in 2010.
